Reiki is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Force, the energy around us and within us. Reiki is a way of activating, directing and applying natural energy for the promotion of health, healing, balance and wholeness.
Reiki has been around for centuries in one form or another. It was officially recognized by Dr Mikao Usui, a Buddhist in the 1900′s in Japan. He passed this knowledge on and it has since found its’ away around the world. I am able to trace my healing lineage back to him through the teachers I have trained with.
This form of healing is an holistic creative energy and therefore useful for preventing imbalance, assisting the body’s natural healing powers and maintaining the re-balance as a state of well being.
It can be used most effectively as a self help technique as well as for the release of stress and relaxation and to restore the vital energy lost in daily life. Therefore creating good health!
This ancient form of Healing is a vehicle to channel love, the most powerful healer. It opens the heart, crown and palm chakras and the spirit to the causes of disease and pain and reinforces the body’s ability to heal itself. It supports and enhances all medical treatment, being used effectively by conventional doctors.
A Reiki Treatment
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position, the main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 1 to 1½ hours with each position held for several minutes.
What can reiki do for you? Reiki energy brings deep relaxation, soothing emotions and reducing negative feelings. Reiki can help you be the best that you can be. It can help unlock your natural creativity allowing you to reach your full potential. It brings clarity, focus and a sense of purpose back into life. It enhances the benefits of all other therapies. One treatment is physiologically the equivalent of 3 to 4 hours’ deep sleep. It helps you find true peace of mind and brings positivity to help you cope with life’s daily challenges.
Ways of connecting to the energy
Spiritual healers learn through practice to connect to and draw down the energy. Reiki practitioners go through a ‘connection ritual’ that gives them a strong and consistent connection to the source right from day one.
Though some spiritual healers would see themselves as ‘attuning’ to the energy just before they treat someone, the word ‘attunement’ has a special meaning within Reiki, and does not refer to an individuals preparation to give a treatment’. ‘Attunement’ within Reiki is a special connection ritual that is carried out on a Reiki student when they attend a Reiki course. The attunements have their origins in mystical Buddhism.
Once ‘attuned’ on a Reiki course, the Reiki student is able to channel chi strongly from day 1. It seems to give a strong consistent connection to the source, according to spiritual healers. Students can then carry out daily energy exercises (similar to QiGong exercises) to help make them a stronger channel for the energy.
How does reiki feel? Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Some feel a slight tingling or sensations of warmth, others just a deep relaxation. Some find themselves in a deep meditative state whilst thers feel rejuvenated and energised. Some even fall into a deep and refreshing sleep.
My experience. My reiki has revealed vibrations in upper body as well as right side of the body. This involves all upper chakras as well as left side of the brain (which controls right side of the body). It has told me a lot and I am planning to do this again. It is surprisingly strong, as for non-touch treatment.
